I’m buying a new computer and it hurts quite a bit to see more than one month’s pay, almost 1.5 months’ pay go just like that.
Now that I’m earning my own money, I hate being more and more dependent on it. Hate always worrying that there isn’t enough for the long term, and feeling guilty when I may have spent too exorbitantly. I hate my pithy pay that always seems to disappear once I receive it. I really have to manage my money better. I hate comparing with other people, where the Straits Times survey showed my pay to be miserably below average. And I hate having to set my standards by the world. Because honestly I don’t think it’s the amount I have been given that matters and what matters is how I manage this money. How to be a better steward of this money.
On the other side of the coin, I had a cousin who was really stingy and never bought things when he went out, choosing to just grab a sip or bite from whoever he was with. Of course not to be miserly- money earned is meant to be spent, albeit wisely.
